Dr. Lizzy Dean

MEDICAL DIRECTOR & CO-OWNER

Dr. Lizzy Dean grew up in a large catholic family in the Midwest. She has three older brothers, which molded her into the bold, boisterous person she is today. She wanted to become a vet from a young age and finally reached that dream in 2010 when she graduated from Michigan State University with her DVM in 2010.

She started her career in Florida where she completed an internship in surgery, emergency medicine and regenerative medicine. She moved to Seattle’s Leschi neighborhood in 2011 and still lives there with her husband and two rescue Persian cats. She has “dog fever” and if her landlord hadn’t threatened eviction, she’d have several by now.

Her lifelong hobby has been horseback riding and she currently owns is a paint quarter horse that she uses mostly for trail riding and occasional fox hunting. Don’t worry folks, no foxes are actually hunted, it’s more like motocross on horseback. She also enjoys alpine skiing, wakeboarding, hiking, and running during her free time. She’s run the Rock and Roll half marathon every year since 2012. She loves living and working in the same community.

Dr. Katie Rob

Medical Director & Co-Owner

Dr. Katie Rob has worked as a small animal veterinarian for the past 12 years in Cape Cod and Seattle. She grew up in rural Vermont with backyard goats, sheep, chickens and ducks. Her first business venture was selling her chicken’s eggs when she was nine. She has fond memories of helping her dad take care of their pets, from trimming her goat’s hooves to bottle feeding lambs.

She left Vermont to attend Amherst College, where she studied biology and met her future husband, Giora, while dissecting horseshoe crabs in a biology class. Her upbringing then led her to the Royal Veterinary College in England. Vet school was filled with good times, one of the best being the three weeks she spent working the night shift on a sheep farm, delivering hundreds of lambs under the Northern Lights.

Katie has always felt fortunate to have found what she considers the best profession on earth. While not working, she always looks forward to days spent outdoors with her husband, three children, a brindle boxer-mix from PAWS and an energetic chihuahua-mix from Red Waggin’ Rescue.

Crystal Robledo

Client Service Coordinator

Crystal joined the team with over nine years of animal industry experience. She began working in a retail pet store in 2007, sparking her interest in pet nutrition paired with her own pet experiences with how diet contributed to her pets’ health. She left the retail pet industry in 2013 to work with a local raw pet food company that offered veterinary diets, gaining more nutritional insight from educated holistic vets.
Now, as part of Columbia City Vets, she’s helping the pets and their people in her own neighborhood. Crystal really enjoys meeting people and their pets that they love, making a small impact in their lives and supporting them in seeking pet care. But of course, she mainly does it for the pet cuddles, as she mentions, ”I get to have baby pet cuddles without all that responsibility of raising the pet.” She herself has two cat and two dog senior furbabies with her husband: two domestic short haired tabby cats, Mika who is polydactyl (extra toes) and Addy, and Pai Mei the pug and Jada a mixed bully breed.
Outside of work, Crystal spend majority of time with friends and loved ones, going to farmers markets locally, journaling and maybe catching a movie too! She loves to cook and bake for her loved ones. Enjoys the outdoors, spending time at local parks, hiking and camping and swimming.

Client Testimonials

Dr. Katie Rob is fantastic! We plan to drive from NE Seattle to Columbia City Vet Hospital when it opens next month. Dr. Rob has been kind and gentle with our 12 year old black lab. She has gone out of her way to make sure she is comfortable in her final season of life. I am so grateful for Dr. Rob! Looking forward to visiting her new clinic.

— Teresa E.

Dr. Dean helped treat my cats for several years (she was amazing helping me with one that had cancer, taking personal care with his surgery) and she is an outstanding person and veterinarian. I would highly recommend her and Dr. Rob if you are looking for excellent care for your pets!
